A 28-year-old Hispanic man died Sunday at the downtown facility, which has had 14 inmate deaths since November 2021.

In the past year, 11 people being held at Metro Corrections have died. Now activists are asking judges to release people awaiting trial on low-level charges.

Louisville Metro Department of Corrections officials say a person died by suicide early Thursday morning while in custody at the downtown jail.
