Scottie Scheffler, the number-one-ranked men’s golfer, is no longer scheduled to appear in Jefferson County court Tuesday. He was arrested last week after a traffic incident with police.

Louisville judges can issue bench warrants against citizens who violate court orders, including for not appearing in person. This month, the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office is renewing an opportunity to clear those warrants.

The Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting revealed last July that McLaughlin repeatedly made derogatory comments from the bench, among other judicial missteps.

Among her inflammatory comments, Judge Sandra McLaughlin said a defendant in a Barack Obama t-shirt was "lucky to get out of here alive" and called the clothing a "double whammy." She's made several procedural mistakes from the bench. In running for re-election, McLaughlin lied in a campaign flyer about an endorsement.
