Kentucky Lt. Gov. Jerry Abramson says he may announce his intentions regarding a run for governor before or shortly after the Fancy Farm Picnic on Aug. 3.“I’m going through this yes, no, up down," Abramson said. “If you’re going to spend a year and a half hour to raise $15 million and once you win the question becomes can you really be a transformational public servant and make a significant difference in the future of Kentucky? That’s what I’m thinking through.”He says polling shows he could win a race for governor, but he’s undecided on seeking the office.Abramson served as mayor of the City of Louisville from 1986 to 1999. He returned to public office in 2003 after being elected the first mayor of the newly merged Louisville-Jefferson County government. He served two terms as Metro mayor. After becoming lieutenant governor in 2011, Abramson chaired a commission on tax reform over the past year, but there’s been no legislative action yet on the panel’s recommendations.Abramson is hopeful the General Assembly will take up the commission’s 54 recommendations during the 2014 legislative session. Lawmakers will craft a two year budget during the 60-day session.Abramson is among several Democrats mulling a 2015 run to succeed Gov. Steve Beshear, who can't run again because of term limits.Others include Attorney General Jack Conway and former state Auditor Crit Luallen.
