Lady Dee
Host, WFPK In the PocketDestiny Carter, known on the air waves as “Lady Dee," is a multi-faceted creative born and raised in Louisville's West End. Her music pursuits started as a jazz trombonist, but has continued her love for music as a DJ and aspiring turntablist. Her talents expand from DJing, to live sound engineering, flow arts and jewelry making.
She has been an advocate for educating listeners on the expansiveness of jazz music throughout time and space with In the Pocket. From Hard Bop to Hip-Hop, Blues to R&B and Fusion to House, the metamorphosis of Jazz music is apparent in most of the popular music we know and love today. In the Pocket — inspired by a jazz term used to signify the unity and collective groove between musicians — is an exploration of sound, highlighting the evolution and intergenerational art that is jazz music.
