Kentucky Foster Care Review Boards Calling for Volunteers

Kentucky is calling for volunteers for its Citizen Foster Care Review Boards, which work with the courts to ensure the state's foster children are placed in permanent homes as quickly as possible.

The Administrative Office of the Courts oversees hundreds of volunteers, appointed by the courts, who review files for children in state custody. The boards evaluate whether the state is working quickly enough to find homes for them.

Volunteers must complete a six-hour training and consent to background checks.

Created by the legislature in 1982, the boards are designed as citizen watchdogs on the foster system. Anyone interested in serving should contact the Administrative Office of the Courts at (502) 573-2350 or visit www.courts.ky.gov .
