Thousands of fans flooded Cardinal Boulevard after the Louisville Cardinals won the 2013 men's national championship. They screamed, hugged, cheered and screamed some more. Early on, a few minor incidents happened—fireworks were set off in the crowd, a guy climbed a tree, bottles shattered on the ground.But, later, there was an incident in the crowd. Bottles were reportedly tossed at police and officers were reportedly knocked to the ground; officers responded by firing pepper pellets to disperse the crowd, a university spokesman said.More than 7,000 people were estimated to have joined in the celebration at Cardinal Boulevard around the Cardinal Towne development. Reports included gunshots,disorderly conduct and fights. The largest crowds appeared to be at Cardinal Boulevard, police said.WFPL will update what happened in the celebrations once more information becomes available on Tuesday.Updated: Police made 23 arrests by about 5 a.m., mostly on charges of alcohol intoxication or disorderly conduct, LMPD said.
