Governor Steve Beshear will once again embark on an international trade mission to Asia.Beshear has made several such trips as governor. His most recent was a visit India last year. This time, Beshear will spend seven days promoting Kentucky industries in Taiwan and Japan.“I’m very excited for the opportunities this visit offers the Commonwealth, Taiwan, and Japan. Mutual goodwill, economic development, and prosperity are our common goals,” Beshear said in a press release. “We’re looking forward to capitalizing on the enormous potential that exists for Kentucky’s Bourbon industry in Taiwan, as well as strengthening existing relationships and building new ones that will further enhance our economic ties with Taiwan and Japan.”Beshear’s office says he will promote bourbon to Taiwanese trade officials. The governor will then discuss the potential expansion of Japanese businesses in Kentucky.Beshear is scheduled to leave for the trip Sunday.
