A Louisville-based program that helps military veterans who have been incarcerated make the transition back into society upon their release is getting a $150,000 federal grant to continue its work.The Incarcerated Veterans Transitional Program is operated by the Kentucky arm of the Volunteers of America.C-E-O Jane Burks says it provides assistance with transitional housing, employment and training, clothing and various follow-up services."With the help of Volunteers of America, over 93 percent of the incarcerated veterans that we have served over the past four years have not reoffended, have not gone back to the corrections system," Burks said.The funds, requested by Congressman John Yarmuth, were included in an appropriations bill signed by President Obama last month.
