Managing Editor, Ohio Valley ReSourceJeff Young is managing editor of the Ohio Valley ReSource, a journalism collaboration led by Louisville Public Media. Jeff is a public media journalist and environmental communicator whose two-decade career has included work in the Appalachian coalfields, on Capitol Hill, and along New England’s coast, among other places. Jeff reported for West Virginia Public Broadcasting before becoming the Washington correspondent for the nationally distributed program Living on Earth, where he covered energy and environmental issues in Congress and the courts. Recently, he directed communications for ocean conservation with The Pew Charitable Trusts in New England, working to promote sustainable fishing practices. Jeff grew up near Huntington, West Virginia, and attended Marshall University and the University of Charleston, where he studied journalism and biology. His reporting has been recognized with numerous awards, and he was named a 2012 Nieman Journalism Fellow at Harvard University. Jeff and his partner, Helen Payne, an artist and teacher, are raising two daughters, Hazel and Louisa.
